Getting the Most from your SF Fire CU Platinum Visa®

Are you traveling this holiday season, or have lots of purchases to make? We wanted to go into a little more depth on some of the reasons you might have opened your credit card with us, and how the credit card can help you this time of year.

Travel Benefits

Whether you’re renting a car to drive to see family, or heading out of the country for a festive adventure, Visa has many benefits that can help you, including:

  • Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver – you can decline the collision damage waiver (CDW) coverage from the rental car company when you rent the car using your Visa with us. Certain restrictions might apply depending on your location and the type of car you are renting, but you can call the Visa Benefits Administrator to learn more at 1.800.VISA.911 (1.800.847.2911).
  • Lost Luggage Locator Assistance – Visa can help you navigate a common carrier’s claim procedures or arrange the shipment of replacement items if an airline or common carrier loses your checked luggage. However, you would be responsible for the cost of any such replacement items.

Additionally, your SF Fire Credit Union credit card is fee-friendly for your international trips:

  • No Foreign Transaction Fees
  • No Currency Exchange Fees

You can also set up a PIN for your Credit Card in case you want to have access to cash from your credit line while traveling – these withdrawals would be considered cash advances and would start accruing interest from the day of the transaction. Our Branch Representatives can help you set a PIN when you come in to see us.

Protection Against Holiday Fraud

The busy holiday season tends to bring out the would-be identity thieves, who do their best to steal credit card numbers. Remember, you are not liable for fraudulent transactions as long as you report them to us in a timely manner. We’re here to help you replace compromised cards and submit disputes.
