About the Firefighter Olympics
The Firefighter Olympics began in 1970 as an opportunity for all California Firefighters to get together in friendly competitions, promote physical fitness and provide an informal forum for the exchanging of ideas. The Olympics is an annual week-long event during which roughly 30 sports are offered to participants, ranging from basketball to a triathlon. The California Firefighter's Athletic Association governs the games. Local associations bid to be the host and bring the games to their community. Palo Alto Firefighters, Local 1319 is truly honored and excited to be the 2012 host.
