Operating as a financial institution in today's economic and legislative environment has become increasingly complex, especially for smaller Credit Unions who lack the resources to adapt to ever-changing regulatory mandates. Many of them choose to seek out larger Credit Unions with whom to merge, as opposed to soldiering on during these challenging times. This happens to be the case with Pacifica-Coastside Credit Union, which was founded in 1958 to serve the employees of the City of Pacifica. Their volunteer Board of Directors (which includes Pacifica firefighters) requested a merger with SF Fire Credit Union, which was approved by a vote of their 500+ members.
Shared Values & Core Membership
We are proud of our long history of supporting the Credit Union Movement, and welcome this merger with the members of Pacifica-Coastside Credit Union. Both organizations have shared values, which include placing a high importance on exceptional and personal service. Our core memberships are also similar, with firefighters and other first-responders having significant representation amongst Pacifica-Coastside's member base.
Merger Brings New 'Cashless' Branch to Pacifica
With this merger, we have gained Pacifica-Coastside Credit Union's long-held Pacifica branch located within the Sanchez Arts Center (Map). While not a full-service location like California Street and Stonestown, at this 'cashless' branch members are able to:
- Open New Accounts
- Apply for a Visa, Auto, Motorcycle, or Personal Loan
- Make Loan Payments
- Deposit Checks
- Get Cashier's Checks
- Request Wire Transfers
- Order New Debit and/or Credit Cards
Being a 'cashless' location, this branch does not offer members the ability to:
- Withdrawal Cash
- Deposit Cash
- Apply for a Real Estate Loan
- Perform Credit Union Service Center Transactions
